Questions

Everything you'd reasonably ask.

And a few things authors ask us that we think everyone should know.

Getting started

How do I order?

Send a brief — blurb, genre, mood, and which tier you like the look of. We come back within a working day with a written treatment and a timeline. Nothing is charged until you approve that treatment, so the first step genuinely costs you nothing but ten minutes.

Do I need a finished book?

No. Plenty of authors want a trailer for a pre-order campaign or a Kickstarter. We need the story and the mood, not a final manuscript. If your cover isn't done yet we'll deliver a typographic title card — or design the cover too so the pair match.

What do you actually need from me?

Your blurb, your genre, and a sense of the mood. Helpful extras:

  • Cover art, if it exists
  • Two or three lines from the book you love
  • A film or trailer whose feel you want borrowed
  • Your buy or pre-order link

Then you approve a treatment and give notes on the cut. That's the whole commitment.

How long does it take?

Roughly two weeks from brief to delivery: a day or two for the treatment, about a week for the first cut, then a few days of revisions. The Editor and Director tiers get priority in the queue. Tell us your launch date and we'll be straight about whether we can hit it.

Do you work with authors outside the US?

Yes. Everything happens over email and private review links, so your time zone doesn't matter. We work in English; if you need on-screen text in another language, mention it in your brief.

The trailer itself

How long is a book trailer?

Thirty to forty-five seconds is the sweet spot, and that's the default on all tiers. It's long enough to build a mood and short enough to hold a thumb still. The Director tier goes to ninety seconds when a story genuinely needs the room — and includes short cut-downs for ads.

Will there be a voice-over?

Many of the best book trailers use on-screen text and score alone, so we only recommend narration where the book calls for it. A professional voice-over is included on The Director and available as an add-on lower down; either way we'll tell you in the treatment which we think serves your book.

Do you use AI-generated imagery?

Yes, alongside licensed footage, motion design and practical elements — and we'd rather tell you plainly than pretend otherwise. It's the reason a cinematic trailer can cost $100 instead of $5,000. What it doesn't change is the craft: the treatment, the edit rhythm, the sound design and the score choices are all made by people who cut trailers for a living, and a human reviews and approves every frame before you see it. If you'd prefer a trailer built without AI imagery, say so and we'll quote a licensed-footage-only version.

Can you match my series' existing look?

Yes, and we'd encourage it. Send the earlier trailer or covers and we'll build to that language. Series books after the first are faster and discounted for exactly this reason.

What if I hate the first cut?

That's what the treatment stage is for — it catches direction problems before anything is built, at no cost. If a cut still misses, your revision rounds exist to fix it, and plain-English notes are perfectly good. "The middle drags" and "the villain reveal comes too early" are notes we know what to do with.

Music, rights and files

Is the music properly licensed?

Yes, and the licence is included in your price. You can run your trailer on YouTube, TikTok, Instagram and paid ads without a copyright claim. We don't hand you a track you have to clear yourself.

Do I own the trailer?

You own the deliverables outright and can use them commercially, forever, anywhere — including paid advertising. We ask only for permission to show your trailer in our own portfolio, and we'll skip that if you'd rather we didn't.

What files do I get?

Downloadable masters in every shape you'll need:

  • 16:9 widescreen — YouTube, your website, Amazon A+ content
  • 9:16 vertical — TikTok, Reels, Shorts
  • 1:1 square — feed posts
  • A high-resolution poster frame for thumbnails and banners

The Director tier is mastered in 4K and adds 15-second and 6-second ad cut-downs.

Can I use it in paid ads?

Yes, on every tier. The Director tier also includes shorter cut-downs, since ad platforms reward a faster hook.

Covers

Can you do my cover as well?

Yes — $100 for an ebook cover, $150 with a full print wrap, and $40 off when you take a cover and a trailer together. See cover design for what's included.

Why bundle the cover and the trailer?

Because then they share one art direction — same palette, same type, same mood. Buy them separately from two freelancers and your launch looks like two campaigns. It also saves you $40.

Money

Why so much cheaper than a traditional book trailer?

Because we've narrowed the job. We make one kind of thing, we've standardised the process around it, and we generate imagery instead of booking shoots. No production overhead to spread across your invoice.

Is there a subscription?

No. One price per project. Nothing recurring, nothing to cancel.

When do I pay?

After you approve the treatment. Sending a brief and receiving a treatment are free, and you can stop there owing nothing.
