Privacy policy

Short version: we collect what you type into our forms, we use it to talk to you about your book trailer, and we don't sell it to anybody.

Who we are

BookTrailers4Authors ("we", "us") operates booktrailers4authors.com. For any privacy question, write to hello@booktrailers4authors.com.

What we collect

• Information you give us. Your name, email address, book title, genre, the tier you're interested in and any message you send through our brief or contact forms.
• Material you send for production. If you become a client, the blurb, cover art, excerpts and links you share so we can make your trailer or cover.
• Basic technical information. Standard web-server data such as IP address, browser type and the pages you visited, used to keep the site working and understand which pages are useful.

What we do with it

• Reply to you, and send you the treatment you asked for.
• Produce, revise and deliver your trailer or cover if you order one.
• Send invoices and keep the records our accountants and tax authorities require.
• Improve the site and our service.

We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information. We don't add you to unrelated marketing lists.

Who else touches your data

We use a small number of third-party services to run the business, and they only ever see what they need to do their job:

• A form-handling service that delivers your submission to our inbox.
• Our email provider.
• Our web host.
• A payment processor, if you order — we never see or store your full card details.
• Generative-media and voice services used in production, which receive the creative brief material needed to build your project.
• Privacy-respecting analytics, if enabled, to count page views.

We may also disclose information where the law requires it, or to protect our rights and the safety of others.

Your work stays yours

Your manuscript, blurb, cover art and any excerpt you send remain yours. We use them only to make your trailer or cover. We will not publish your work in our portfolio without your permission, and you can withdraw that permission at any time by emailing us.

How long we keep things

Enquiries are kept until you ask us to remove them or until they're no longer useful. Client project files and the records we're legally required to retain are kept for as long as the law requires, then deleted.

Your rights

Wherever you live, you can ask us to show you the personal information we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or stop using it. Email hello@booktrailers4authors.com and we'll act on it promptly and at no cost. Depending on your jurisdiction — including under the GDPR in the UK and EU, and the CCPA in California — you may have additional rights, including the right to complain to your data-protection regulator.

Cookies

This site does not use advertising or tracking cookies. Any cookies present are strictly functional, or set by privacy-respecting analytics to count visits in aggregate. You can block cookies in your browser without breaking the site.

Children

Our service is aimed at authors and is not directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect information from them; if you believe we have, tell us and we'll delete it.

Security

The site is served over HTTPS and we limit access to submissions to the people who need it. No system is perfectly secure, so please don't send us anything you'd consider highly sensitive through a web form.

Changes

If we change this policy we'll update the date at the top of this page. Material changes affecting existing clients will be emailed.
